The Ivy plans to open restaurant on The Hayes in Cardiff

The Ivy Collection is planning to open on The Hayes in Cardiff, eight months after shelving its original plans to come to Wales.

A licencing application has now appeared on 18 The Hayes which is the former Moss Bros store and is the same location as it was initially interested in in 2017.

The restaurant revealed its interest in Cardiff in December 2017 but confirmed in September last year that this was no longer the case.

Classic Cardiff cafe that everyone thought was shut for good is set to reopen

Now the luxury restaurant, which is owned by Troia Restaurants Limited, has applied for a premise licence for alcohol and music for a site on The Hayes which would be open from 8am until 12.30am.

The Ivy Collection has venues in England, Scotland and Ireland and this would be its first venture into the Welsh dining scene. It has recently opened in cities in the UK such as Birmingham, Bristol, Cheltenham, Manchester and York.

The menu would feature modern British dishes such as Ivy's Shepherd's Pie, fish and chips, roast beef sandwiches as well as brunch classics like eggs Benedict and pancakes.

The interiors of the brasseries are sophisticated and classically inspired by The Ivy's unique style at its original West Street branch in London's West End.
