The Ivy in Cardiff was evacuated after fault with sprinkler system

The Ivy in Cardiff was evacuated after a fault with its sprinkler system just weeks after it opened.

The restaurant confirmed customers had to vacate the building on Wednesday evening.

The world famous restaurant group recently opened its first Welsh spot at the former Jamie's Italian site on The Hayes.

Wednesday evening appeared to be the first glitch the new restaurant has faced.

A spokesperson for the company said: "We can confirm our Cardiff restaurant yesterday had to evacuate all guests safely from the restaurant following an issue with the sprinkler system.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this caused our guests."
