The item of clothing guaranteed to get you kicked off a flight

Airlines have stricter rules on what they'll allow people to wear on board than you might think.

Earlier this year, a Thomas Cook passenger was asked to leave a flight over her decision to wear a crop top onboard.

Emily O’Connor, 21, was left stunned when airline staff asked her to “cover up" before the flight manager asked her to collect her baggage and leave the plane.

While this was not part of the now defunct airline's policy, some companies will deny you from flying if you wear a particular item of clothing.

Writing on Reddit, an airline employee posted a long list of dos and don'ts in a bid to help passengers.

One of the rules she laid out was to do with passengers' wardrobe choices and in particular the design of the garments they wear, reports the Express.

The gate agent said: “Don't wear shirts with obscene words.

“We can't board you to the aeroplane with a shirt that says a bad word.

“You will probably have to change it as it might offend another passenger.”

According to Metro , in 2015 a student was kicked off a plane after a cabin crew member caught sight of his shirt choice.

The item was said to have a common swear word emblazoned on it.

Virgin doesn't permit “clothing that displays offensive language or symbols”.

But Ryanair and easyJet have no dress code mentioned on their website.
