The irresponsible 'coronavirus is a myth' message that was sprayed onto a Welsh road

Someone has vandalised a Welsh road by scrawling the words ‘Corona a myth’ in big bold letters on the concrete with white paint.

The graffiti was spotted by police officers on patrol in Ceredigion.

The message in full reads: ‘Cymru am byth, corona a myth’. Translated, the message says ‘Wales Forever’ and then implies that coronavirus does not exist.

It comes as latest figures reveal there were 127 deaths linked to Covid-19 in Wales and almost 3,500 confirmed cases in the country as of Monday, April 6.

Police have criticised whoever is responsible for the act, which was carried out near the village of Llanddewi Brefi, between Lampeter and Tregaron.

A spokesman for Lampeter Police called it “incredibly naive and thoughtless criminal damage”.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Police in Lampeter discovered a road had been graffitied while conducting patrols on Friday, April 3.

“The words ‘Cymru am byth Corona a myth’ had been written on an unclassified road in Llanddewi Brefi.”

Police added that they were unsure how long the writing had been on the road.

Ceredigion Council has been asked to comment about the removal of the graffiti.
