The Iron Throne from Game of Thrones is coming to Manchester

Numerous Iron Thrones have been spotted in multiple locations around the world over the past few weeks with the final throne being discovered in New York on Thursday.

Fans have been going to the literal ends of the earth to track these things down but if that seems a little too extreme for you then there's a simpler way to see the iconic spiky chair.

The Game of Thrones 7 Kingdoms Tour, courtesy of Sky Atlantic is going to be travelling up and down the UK and will stop by in Manchester for two days in April.

The hugely popular fantasy epic will return to Sky Atlantic for its final season on Monday April 15 and the broadcaster will bring the Iron Throne to seven cities across the UK and Ireland to coincide with the build-up.

Followers of the multi-award-winning programme, based on  George R. R. Martin’s  ‘ A Song of Ice and Fire’  book series, will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to be pictured on the show’s hotly contested seat of power.

Starting in Dublin on 3 April, the tour will take in much of Ireland and the British Isles, including Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, London, Cardiff and Birmingham.

Each city the throne visits will be themed to a specific region of Westeros, E.G. Manchester will be themed as the Riverlands.

Speaking on this upcoming tour, Sky’s Director of Programmes  Zai Bennett  said: “With one of the greatest shows of television’s golden era coming to its end, we wanted to give fans something special to remember it by.

"The 7 Kingdoms Tour will do just that with fans getting the chance to experience what it feels like to sit on the Iron Throne before the eventual crowning moment at the end of the season.”
