The Irish 'pub' with a twist that has been doing great business all summer

Publicans across Ireland received a "hammer blow" this week that premises would not be allowed open as planned on July 20.

This means many pubs that aren't serving food will now go five months without opening by the time August 10 comes around.

However, one Irish "pub" has been open all summer and proven a massive hit - but it's not a pub as we traditionally know it.

The "self catering holiday pub" is an Airbnb listing in Co Tipperary that has all the features of a pub - except for the fact it isn't one.

The once thriving rural spot is now a holiday home that can take up to 16 guests with all the bar still intact.

Guests can bring their own alcohol and pretend they run a pub for the night or even get that going out feel - obviously with no outside guests.

And the North Tipperary location has proven massively popular being booked out most of the summer months.

At the time of writing the next available booking is a Monday to Thursday at the end of August - and it'll cost you over €400 a night.

A description of the pub reads: "Now you can experience living in the Pub! Settle in the snug into one of the comfy leather sofa's and chairs and the smell of peat from the stove will bring back all the charm of how a Pub used to be.

"Move into the main lounge and bar area and get yourself a drink - you can argue over who will be the barperson for the night! The lounge has a huge fireplace and seating for everyone.

"After a few drinks in the evening see if you can't resist taking to the stage for a spot of singing. Crank up the music , Turn on the party lighting button and take to the dance floor.

"When you retire for the evening the house has four bedrooms with King size beds, 1 double bedroom and a bunk room off the main lounge that will sleep 4.

"There's a living room in the house, while meals prepared in the catering kitchen are enjoyed in the lounge (The pub used to serve food and everything you need to prepare meals is in the catering kitchen).

"On the sunny days (yes, we do get them) you can enjoy the large garden or private beer garden with seating (during Summer)."
