The Irish pub opening on Friday with genius setup for intimate live music

This Irish pub will be opening on Friday with a wonderful setup for intimate live music.

Coughlan's Bar and live music venue in Cork city is well known for being a quality place to take in a few tunes.

Gatherings of up to 15 people are allowed to take place under level three restrictions and so Couglan's have lined up small concerts over the next few weeks, including the likes of Lisa Hannigan and Mick Flannery.

They posted on Facebook: "We’ve been busy getting our outdoor space all spick & span and of course covid compliant for our upcoming shows.

"These shows will be run in accordance with Government guidelines.

"Organised outdoor gatherings: These are controlled environments with a named event organiser, owner or manager.

"For example: outdoor arts events, training events. Gatherings of up to 15 people can take place.”

Coughlan's Bar added: "We are very proud to announce our lovely December line up.

"We know so many of you would love to go to a live gig right now but sadly due to restrictions our already limited capacity is even more limited and only 15 people are allowed attend each show.

"We will be picking people at random from our mailing list and giving them the opportunity to purchase tickets first so if you wish to be in with a chance please signup through our contact form on our website www.coughlans.ie and let us how which shows you are interested in attending.

"Please be gentle with us as we know there will be huge demand but we’ll try to do this as fairly as possible!

"Every year at Christmas we would normally host a fundraising concert for the wonderful Cork Penny Dinners.

"Unfortunately due to current circumstances that is not possible - at a time when they need support more than ever.

"In order to raise some much needed funds we are going to auction a pair of tickets to both Mick Flannery's show and Lisa Hannigan’s show with all proceeds going directly to Penny Dinners.

"You can email us your bid and we will update our page regularly with where we are with the offers. Bidding will close on Sunday at 6pm and winners will be notified.

"The good news for those of you who don’t get tickets is that these shows will be filmed and broadcast at a later date!

"Thanks as always for the support and kindness you all have shown to us during this tough time.

"We’ll be back in full force soon and hopefully better than ever with lots of music, pints and most importantly you.

"For now though stay safe."
