The Irish link in Netlix's The Ripper that isn't mentioned in the documentary

Irish Netlfix users can't get enough of 'The Ripper' which has been number one in the top 10 for the last number of days.

In the true crime documentary, investigators and witnesses recall the Yorkshire Ripper murders, which cast a shadow over the north of England in the late 1970s.

And there is an Irish link to the Yorkshire Ripper although it's not heavily mentioned in the show itself.

An Irish woman named Annie Brosnan was the first victim of Yorkshire Ripper  Peter Sutcliffe.

Annie, from  Tralee, Co Kerry, was beaten and left for dead as she made her way home in Keighley, West Yorkshire, on the night of Friday 4 July 1975.

She was dubbed 'Irish Annie' at the time and survived thanks to being found by a passing youth who found her bleeding on the ground.

Peter Sutcliffe also slashed her stomach with a knife but was disturbed by a neighbour.

Annie had three crescent-shaped lacerations to her skull and fractures caused by a heavy object.

Shards of bone were removed from her brain during a 12-hour operation at Leeds General Infirmary.

Brave Anna survive her ordeal but was left psychologically scarred by it.

Anna had moved to Yorkshire from Ireland when she was 15.

She married married Roman Rogulskyj and their marriage lasted for eighteen years until 1973.

Notorious serial killer  Peter Sutcliffe  murdered 13 women during the 1970s and 1980s before his arrest in 1981. He is also known to have attacked at least nine other women,  Mirror.co.uk reports.
