The Irish home bought for almost three times asking price after 135 bids in tense auction

A Donegal house has sold for more than two and a half times the asking price after a major bidding war.

The four bed detached house in the scenic area of Dunfanaghy with beautiful views of the coast was in extremely high demand.

The spacious house is perfect for golf lovers being situated across from Dunfanaghy Golf Club between the popular holiday resorts of Dunfanaghy and Portnablagh.

Originally listed for €95,000, the house went up for auction on yourbid.ie on September 12.

The property garnered a lot of attention and had 12 separate bidders seeing the price surge as a war erupted.

The first bid for €95,000 came in at 10:03am, eight minutes later an eight bidder entered the fray and the price was already €152,000.

Fast forward another 20 minutes and the price was only creeping up with €162,000 the winning bid at the time.

Eventual winner - listed as 'Bidder 12' on the site - put in their first bid at 12:49pm of €193,000.

Bidder 12 and Bidder 9 then outbid each other by €1,000 for 11 minutes until one finally gave up and Bidder 12 purchased the house for €231,000.

The online auction will surely have worked out very well for the seller who received far more than the €95,000 they originally listed it for.
