The IoD searches for Scotland's top directors

Business leaders from the private, public and third sector are being encouraged to enter this year’s Institute of Directors (IoD) Director of the Year awards.

Taking place on 8 June at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), the ceremony will be held in-person for the first time since 2019, and will be the first with new nations director Catherine McWilliam at the helm of the organisation.

“The last few years have been some of the toughest in recent history for business leaders,“ she stated. “From the pandemic to global unrest, the economic downturn to recruitment challenges, directors have had to be more resilient, innovative and focussed than ever.

“These awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the work being done in boardrooms across the country to ensure our businesses don’t just survive but thrive.”

The 2023 awards will have 12 categories, recognising leaders in: equality, diversity and inclusion, family business, the third sector, agility and resilience, international, innovation, sustainability, non-executive, young, public sector, small to medium business (up to £25m), and large business (more than £25m).

There will also be seven regional awards, reflecting the work across each of the IoD Scotland’s branches: Aberdeen and Grampian, Central Scotland, Edinburgh and Lothians, Fife and Tayside, Glasgow and west of Scotland, Highlands and Islands and south of Scotland.

Both IoD members and non-members are eligible to enter the awards, or you can nominate someone and enter on their behalf.

The awards are sponsored by Turcan Connell, Zero Waste Scotland, Wheatley Group and SCVO.
