The Wheeler Centre will host a festival for the social media age that asks some of the world’s most important questions. Interrobang: A festival of questions is programmed around crowd-sourced questions, with the most popular ones, according to the public vote, explored.
Invented in the 1960s, the interrobang – a combination of exclamation mark and question mark – is placed at the end of the sentence to prove a point. Now some of those points will be analysed, expanded on and questioned over 25 events. The questions range from the obscure [Are cockroaches attracted to human tears, and if so, why?] to the apocalyptic [How does the world end. With an interrobang or a whimper‽)].
Some of the world’s most inquisitive minds will take on the questions, revealing funny, controversial and thoughtful points. These include writer and columnist Cheryl Strayed, tech-activist Cory Doctorow, former Greek minister of finance Yanis Varoufakis, Anne Summers, Meghan Daum, Raimond Gaita, Nakkiah Lui, Geraldine Brooks, Benjamin Law, Mark Colvin, Adam Liaw, Tom Elliot and more.
