The internet mourned Betty White after beloved actress dies at age 99

You may have seen Betty White, the pioneering entertainer who had been working since the 1930s, in the news recently. She gave an interview to People magazine in which she reflected on turning 100.

Her birthday was supposed to be January 17. She died at her home on Dec. 31.

Best known for playing Rose on Golden Girls and Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, White was broadly influential in radio, comedy and television and had close friendships with Lucille Ball, John Steinbeck and, more recently, Ryan Reynolds, among others.

She was the first woman to produce a sit-com and was a regular on popular game shows, too.

Her admirers were devastated by her death and shared reactions on Twitter.
