The inside story as Hamilton Accies youngster Albion Rovers loan axed after just four weeks

boss Kevin Harper claims Hamilton Accies kid Jack Breen didn’t want to battle for a starting place after his loan deal was ripped up.

The midfielder extended his stay at until the end of the season just four weeks ago after struggling to hold down a regular place during the first half of the League Two season.

The youngster has now returned to his parent club but cannot play for the Premiership side as he has returned outside of the transfer window.

Harper stated the 20-year-old asked to go back to New Douglas Park after he was left on the bench against Cove Rangers and search for a temporary deal at another outfit.

The gaffer told the “Jack felt like he wanted to go back to Hamilton Accies to look for a club who would give him more game time.

“It wasn’t our decision but we don’t want to keep a player who doesn’t want to play for the club.

“Jack told us after the game against Cove that he wanted to leave the club because of the lack of game time.

“He has not had an awful lot of game time but at the end of the day we need to see the performances from our players to get in our team.

“I’m not disappointed that he has left the club but I’m disappointed that he didn’t want to stay and fight for a place in the team.

“It’s not an issue for us; it was an opportunity for him but if he feels like he can get more games elsewhere that’s fine.”

Harper didn’t expect to add another loanee before the window slams shut.

“We are not looking to bring in a replacement at this moment,” he added.

“We are not ruling out another loan deal if there is someone who would benefit the team.

“We have players coming back in like Will Graham and Gary Phillips who can play in the midfield.”
