'The information was wrong wasn't it?', Bruce's fiery Press conference after Newcastle confirm he's staying

Steve Bruce has hit out at reports he would be sacked by Newcastle United's new owners this week.

The head coach has been given the green light to take charge of the Tottenham Hotspur game and "carry on" as boss.

During his Press conference he made it clear he was far from impressed with some reporters who'd written he was certain to be dismissed this week.

Bruce said: "I hope you are feeling the heat from your bosses.

"It hasn't happened - what you all wanted.

"Let's hope you are getting stick from the people in charge of your department.

"As I have said many times, you have to take what comes your way.

"You have to have the ability to see the job through and prepare the players the best you can."

When a reporter tried to clarify the situation, Bruce said: "The information was wrong wasn't it? You haven't done your job properly.

"There were no discussions on me whatsoever.

"There were certain discussion that need to be private.

"It was all about the team and injuries, it was informal.

"They were very good people. Let's not forget it's a great thing that has happened."

When asked what type of a week it had been Bruce said: "All week the ability to have the experience I've gained over the last 20 odd years is to get on with it and do your job until you hear different.

"After a brief 10 minute conversation with the new owners, where we talked about the team and injuries, the training ground...It was all very informal.

"They said: 'Carry on.' And I will carry on until I hear otherwise.

"That's what we managed to do and I have to say the players have trained magnificently well.

"We are all looking forward to Sunday and let's hope we can get a result."
