The Industry season four trailer is here: here’s everything we found out

There’s nothing that screams January more than watching stressed, overworked bankers screaming at each other as multi-million pound deals fall through, backstabbing each other and failing to deal with their rampant daddy issues.

All of which is to say that the BBC has dropped the first trailer for the newest season of Industry, and we are very excited.

It looks pretty miserable

People are not exactly cracking smiles in the trailer. Everything is washed in shades of grey, people are smoking cigarettes and Kit Harington’s character is shown driving a car with blood on his knuckles.

But perhaps all this misery is to be expected, given the show synopsis. As per HBO, season four finds Yasmin navigating “her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck (Harington) and Harper (Myha’la) is pulled into the orbit of enigmatic executive Whitney Halberstram (Max Minghella).”

As a result, it promises, “their twisted friendship begins to warp and ignite under the pressure of money, power and the desire to be on top.”

Yasmin and Harper’s relationship is back in the spotlight

Myha'la as Harper Stern (BBC/Bad Wolf Productions/HBO/Simon Ridgway)

As might be guessed from the synopsis, the focus in this new season is still on the pair’s relationship. We see them exchanging glances from across a boardroom – and while Harper is shown surrounded by piles of paperwork and trading screens, Yasmin looks to be trapped in the countryside with her husband.

Despite that, the only bit of dialogue in the trailer is from the two girls, who we see facing in each other in what looks like a bar.

“Are you going to look after me tonight?” Yasmin asks Harper, who replies, “When the f**k are you going to look after me?”

“Tonight,” she offers.

The cast are back – as are some new faces

Charlie Heaton joins Industry (BBC/Bad Wolf Productions/HBO/Simon Ridgway)

Don’t fret, Harper Stern (Myha’la) and Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) are back for more, but they’re also being joined by some familiar faces as they seek to carve out a career for themselves post-Pierpoint.

That means Harington is back as the wonderfully named Sir Henry Muck, but he’s also being joined by Max Minghella, best known for his turn as Nick Blaine in The Handmaid’s Tale. We’re also going to see appearances from new faces including Kal Penn, Charlie Heaton (aka Jonathan from Stranger Things) and Kiernan Shipka.

Yasmin’s marriage doesn’t seem to be going well

Season three was a whirlwind for Yasmin: not only did the show hint that her (now dead) father potentially sexually abused her, but she also gave up her real love interest, Robert, to marry Henry (Harington), despite the fact that he doesn’t love her, is allegedly a sexual predator and has been known to share needles with heroin addicts.

Unsurprisingly, it’s not going well.

We see Yasmin reclining in a bathtub and closing her eyes, and driving through the countryside in a vintage car. But we also see Harington’s character, Henry Muck, seemingly sleeping his way through a procession of both men and women – while Yasmin leaps into the arms of somebody whose face is obscured, but doesn’t look like her husband. We also see her in fancy dress, looking like she’s raising a hand to him. Basically, there’s drama.

It’s coming out in January

We know the date that the show is airing in the US: January 11. But the BBC hasn’t yet shared when it’ll be out in the UK. Rest assured, though – it’ll be sometime similar.
