The Independent to host Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' session with Brexit expert Anand Menon

Anand Menon, the academic and head of a Brexit research body, is to answer your questions in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) hosted by The Independent.

A leading expert on Brexit, Professor Menon is director of UK in a Changing Europe, an initiative which includes academics from universities across the country who specialise in the EU. It is an authoritative source of independent research on UK-EU relations.

Professor Menon is professor of European politics and foreign affairs at King's College, London, where the project is based.

He said: “With Theresa May’s Brexit deal seemingly on its last legs in parliament, please feel free to ask me all your questions on Brexit, Britain’s future in Europe, and what happens between now and 29 March when we are currently set to leave the EU.”

Professor Menon will take  questions on Brexit – as well as anything else you want to ask him – for an hour from 5pm BST on Wednesday 23 January. You can post questions from 4pm BST in the r/Europe subreddit.

After Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement was rejected by the Commons by 230 votes last week, Professor Menon said: “The prime minister was humiliated in the Commons last night – yet arguably more significant was the fact that the vote, finally, marked the moment when the House of Commons began what promises to be rather lengthy and ill-tempered process of elimination.

"Her deal is on life support and not looking well at all. But it is still too soon to say, definitively, that it is dead.”

His research group has produced a report on how parliament can now take control of the Brexit process

More than 1.1 million people have  signed The Independent‘s petition urging Theresa May to call a referendum on the final Brexit deal. Whether you support leaving or remaining in the EU, you can call for a Final Say by signing our petition.
