The incredible 'what the f***?' sitter and how it led to forward being trolled 3 million times

Tony Di Carlo still dreads it anytime he receives a Facebook notification.

The London-based businessman is resigned to his fate over a Sunday League howler from 2012 that still haunts him to this day.

We've all been there, missing a gilt-edged chance but few of us have suffered the indignity of it being captured on video and subsequently becoming an online figure of fun.

There's a chance you have already howled in laughter at Di Carlo's sitter as it has become favourite for social media 'banter' accounts looking to drive traffic to their page.

Sport Bible, who boast 11m subscribers to their Facebook page, first uploaded the clip back in 2017 with the brutal caption 'How the F*** did he miss this?'

That's something Di Carlo has been asking himself time and time again the past eight years after his chance to shine in a charity match turned sour.

It is a truly incredible gaffe, something the man himself won't deny, as he was left with his head in his hands on a night he will never forget.

He revealed: "My team Epsom Rangers had a player who was very good friends with former Liverpool star Neil 'Razor' Ruddock.

"We ended up doing an event for charity, a Razor Ruddock XI vs an Epsom Rangers XI.

'There was Razor, Dean Gaffney from Eastenders, Mark Wright as well. It was quite an interesting game.

"Towards the end of the match, we made a lovely move, tiki-taka Barcelona football and the ball got crossed in from the left hand side and there's been a huge bobble and as I've kicked it, it has gone up in the air, hit the bar and bounced back out.

"It's hysterical, for everyone else, not for me, it's the most embarrassing moment of my life, actually."

Di Carlo, who has learned to live with the miss for the ages in good humour, admits the moment to forget has engulfed his life away from the pitch.

The video, on all platforms combined has been viewed an eye-popping three million times, but the man behind the meme admits he wouldn't change a thing.

He added: "To have it captured on camera was a blessing and a curse.

"Even to this day, I'm still tagged in videos that's been shared by other people.

"We originally put it on our Epsom Rangers YouTube channel and it gained  a lot of traction.

"I was going out locally and people were saying 'oh, I watched your miss'.

"It was a shameful miss, it's definitely a moment that will live with me forever, people still tag me other videos of sitters to this day."
