The incredible story behind photographer's beautiful pictures of Liverpool shop fronts

It can often be easy to take for granted just how many great buildings and sights there are to see in our city, but capturing some of these things is exactly how 43-year-old Antonio Franco fell in love with Liverpool.

Antonio, a commercial photographer, moved to Liverpool in April 2015 from Venezuela and has since spent his spare time taking pictures of shop fronts and bars across the city.

Speaking to the ECHO, Antonio admitted he now considers Liverpool as "his home" thanks to its people. He said: "I was most interested in the history behind these great buildings.

"I found actually these images are resonating with a lot of people."

He continued: "It was important to me to captured the city before it changed once again. I'm now familiar not only with the different areas but the people too, I've grew fond of Liverpool and now call it my home, I don't feel like a foreigner anymore.

"It's helped to make very good friends."

So far Antonio has managed to captured more than 100 Liverpool businesses, including Lock & Key on Duke Street, Copplestones Bridal, Liverpool Cheese Company LTD, Annetta in Woolton and The Italian Club Fish on Bold Street.

His photographs cover not only the city centre but hidden gems in the north and south of Liverpool too.

Antonio said: "I came across a book by photographers who did a similar thing in New York, they found that what happened was a lot of shop fronts had disappeared, I found Liverpool was a similar case, it was constantly evolving.

"Many independent shops are disappearing, so I wanted to document them all before things go or change.

"I took photographs of the flats which were by Lime Street before they were knocked down.
