The incredible Premier League transfer spend table that will stun Cardiff City fans

Cardiff City's Premier League status was left hanging by a thread following the defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

But the morale-boosting win over Brighton on Tuesday night has put them right back in the survival mix.

Neil Warnock has repeatedly stated that keeping the Bluebirds in the top flight would rank as the greatest achievement of his career.

While their chances of finishing above the bottom three are still out of their own hands, the very fact Cardiff are still in contention to stay up is an achievement in itself.

And a transfer spend table has revealed the full scale of just how brilliantly Cardiff have performed under their current boss.

Journalist Daniel Storey ranked each Premier League side in an alternative table that places sides in order of their current league position in comparison with how much they spent in transfer fees on the 10 players to have been the most regular starters for each side this season.

With giants Man City spending a whopping £429million, Cardiff's outlay was just £13million - the lowest in the division by some distance.

The Seagulls have spent £37million, Newcastle £38million, Burnley £44million and Huddersfield £49million.

The stat that puts Cardiff City ahead of Manchester United and Arsenal as lady luck finally starts to turn in Brighton win

It illustrates the superb job Warnock has done and shows the Bluebirds are overachieving in arguably the most competitive division in world football.
