The incredible amount of money that the likes of Bristol City, Leeds United and Aston Villa could earn through promotion

Bristol City are still in the hunt for the play-offs.

The Robins currently sit sixth with five games to go, and sit one place clear of Middlesbrough with a game in hand.

It looks set to be an exciting end to the season as the Robins battle for a shot to go up.

Should the Robins reach the promised land of the Premier League, they will face huge games against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool on a regular basis.

Yet they will also be set for a bumper pay day.

Our sister site Leeds Live has broken down the numbers of what awaits promoted clubs.

What's promotion worth?

Last season, every Premier League club was guaranteed £97.4m, along with prize money as you move up the table. Every place higher in the table is roughly equivalent to £2m more.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side earned £149.4m from the league alone after finishing last season as Champions, whilst relegated clubs such as Stoke City and Swansea City have received more than £41.6m in parachute payments.

Derby County boss Frank Lampard clarifies situation over Bristol City, Celtic and Rangers target amid reports of embargo

Even if the Robins came straight back down, they would be due parachute payments for two years.

From next season, a new television deal comes into place, meaning revenues are expected to be even higher.

How much of an increase is that from the Championship?

Currently, the Robins earn a basic award of £2.3m and a solidarity payment of £4.5m from the EFL, and there is no extra prize money for higher league finishes.

They have also earned around £500,000 from being televised this season.

It means that their revenue could genuinely multiply tenfold if they go up.
