The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison to join West End cast of Waitress

The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison is set to join the West End cast of Waitress.

Harrison, best known for playing Neil Sutherland in the hit comedy series, will take over the role of Ogie from American actor Jack McBrayer on June 17.

He joins the cast at the same time as Lucie Jones, who will star in the lead role of Jenna after Katharine McPhee’s exit, and Ashley Roberts, who comes in for a limited run as Dawn.

The musical tells the story of small town waitress Jenna, who dreams of leaving it all behind for a new life as a pie-maker.

Marisha Wallace, Peter Hannah, David Hunter and Shaun Prendergast all remain in the cast.

Harrison has recently appeared in acclaimed BBC drama A Very English Scandal alongside Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw. His stage credits include Step 9 (of 12) in the West End at Trafalgar Studios and the lead in The End of the Pier at the Park Theatre.

Singer-songwriter and six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles wrote the music and lyrics for Waitress to go along with Jessie Nelson’s book, and Diane Paulus directs. With Lorin Latarro’s choreography, the show made history as the first ever Broadway musical to have four women in the top four creative positions.

Waitress is currently booking at the Adelphi Theatre until October 19.
