The Inbetweeners' James Buckley boasts 'he is the show' in jibe at co-stars

Television star James Buckley has boasted of how The Inbetweeners would be unimaginable without him.

The British actor, 32, is best known for his iconic role as Jay Cartwright in the Channel 4 sitcom.

Now Buckley has taken to online gaming platform Twitch to speak with his fans and provide some comments about his ongoing relationship with the show and his co-stars Simon Bird, Blake Harrison, and Joe Thomas.

According to The Sun, James said on Twitch: "I am the f***ing Inbetweeners.

"Take a second and try and imagine that TV show without me in it? You can’t, can you?"

James also isn't too fussed if fans call him by his character's name, saying that it is not "a billion miles away from my actual name."

The Rock and Chips star also discussed how he never watches what his co-stars appear in, but they remain close.

He said: "I don’t watch Friday Night Dinner, I didn’t watch Fresh Meat. Blake’s got a new show (Kate & Koji) out at the minute on ITV as well, which actually looks really good, it looks really fun.

"But I probably won’t watch it."

Despite describing the other guys as his "best friends", he says "if I sit there and watch Blake in a TV show, I’ll just be going, ‘Oh, there’s Blake’."

He explains that it is due to the fact that he finds it too distracting to see someone you know on a television show.

So, do James' remarks make a reunion for the classic show likely?

Well, Simon recently confirmed that there would be no reunion despite these happening for BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey and US favourite Friends.

Simon discussed on Lorraine: "I think the reason that show worked is because the characters are kids, so they could say the terrible, awful things they said.

"Whereas if the characters were in their mid to late 30s, it’s slightly different!"

Would you like a reunion for The Inbetweeners? If so, why? Let us know in the comments below.
