The impressive Swansea City player ratings as defensive trio and Newcastle United loanee dazzle and Andre Ayew proves his worth at Barnsley

FREDDIE WOODMAN 9

The Golden Glove winner was untroubled in the first half and did the basics very well. Vital save to deny Callum Brittain after the restart and made some other decent stops too in what was a wonderful display. Another clean sheet.

KYLE NAUGHTON 8

Drafted in for Connor Roberts, the right-back was defensively sound and got himself an assist with a fine pass for Andre Ayew's goal. Experience in the second half told too. Superb.

BEN CABANGO - Star Man 9

Starting in place of Ryan Bennett, the Welshman did remarkably well to nullify the threat of Daryl Dike. He was an absolute demon in the air and used his physicality to great effect. Fine performance.

MARC GUEHI 9

Just like Cabango, Guehi produced a stunning display to ensure Freddie Woodman was largely untroubled. So composed in everything he did.

JAKE BIDWELL 7

Made a number of defensive interventions and was typically solid. No nonsense performance, which is just what was needed.

MATT GRIMES 7

Some really good moments of quality on the ball and generally marshalled things well.

JAY FULTON 8

Typically combative display from the Scot who made his fair share of tackles and clearances while his header to cut out a Barnsley counter in the second half was so important.

CONOR HOURIHANE 6

Didn't really affect the game in the first 45 and, in fairness, he was fairly quiet in attack in the second half, aside from a free-kick that almost caught out Brad Collins.

ANDRE AYEW 7

Had very little impact on proceedings until he produced a moment of magic to put Swansea ahead with what was his 17th goal of the season. Some decent bits on the ball in the second half as Swansea held out to win.

LIAM CULLEN 6

Really put himself about but was well marshalled by Barnsley's defence. Didn't really get a sniff and was replaced, although he more than played his part.

JAMAL LOWE 7

The Jamaican was fairly quiet in the opening 45 but his work rate gave Swansea an outlet. Some really good flashes in the second half to help his side carry a threat and almost scored a stunning second for his side.

Subs

Wayne Routledge (for Cullen) - Didn't get much in the way of chances but helped to slow down Barnsley attacks from the front. 6
