He may not be England’s record goalscorer just yet, but Tottenham striker Harry Kane is well on his way to surpassing Wayne Rooney.
The Spurs ace netted his 32nd goal for England as he scored in the 4-0 win against Kosovo this evening (Sunday), with Kane netting for a sixth successive England appearance.
Kane is the only England player to achieve such a feat – and he has now done it twice – having also scored in six successive games for the Three Lions between October 2017 and July 2018.
Kane capped off a superb qualifying campaign for him and England with his goal this evening, but in finding the net in Pristina, he also equalled another record.
His goal tonight was his 12 for England in 2019, equalling the highest tally in a calendar year for the Three Lions, with the Spurs man drawing level with George Hilson in 1908 and Dixie Dean in 1927.
In scoring against Kosovo, Kane also became the first England player to net in every game in a qualifying campaign, with the Spurs striker now having 12 goals to his name in qualifying for the European Championships in 2020.
And Kane was understandably delighted to notch another goal, and end the qualifying campaign in style with a seventh win in eight games.
“As a striker I want to be scoring goals and winning games. I love scoring goals and hopefully I can keep that going into next summer," he told ITV Sport.
