The important words Arsenal Supporters’ Trust have been told about the European Super League

Boris Johnson has promised to do everything he can to block the new European Super League, according to the Arsenal Supporters' Trust.

The Gunners confirmed on Monday that they are among the 12 teams to have signed up to the new Super League.

Fellow Premier League 'top six' clubs Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham have also made the move which is envisioned to rival the current Champions League.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Spanish court had banned UEFA and FIFA from blocking the launch of a new Super League.

But earlier in the morning the UK Prime Minister met with a number of supporters' groups including the AST, before making assurances that he would do everything to block the Super League from happening.

Johnson also promised that the the football governance review being led by Tracey Crouch would be fast tracked, and vowed to look at issues such as supporters owning shares in their club, supporters on boards and the 50+1 ownership model which has been used successfully in Germany.

Other supporters groups including Arsenal America and the Arsenal Independent Supporters Association have also published statements condemning Arsenal's inclusion in the ESL.

Arsenal will hold a Fans' Forum on Thursday evening to address concerns about the Super League.

Senior officials, including chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and technical director Edu, will attend the Zoom call scheduled to last for around 30 minutes.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will give his first press conference since the news was officially confirmed on Thursday morning, where he is expected to answer questions on his feelings towards the ESL.
