The important message by a Swansea primary school which has won widespread praise

The school holidays are meant to be one of the times of the year that pupils look forward to the most. But for some, it can be the loneliest and most isolating.

Now, as this year's annual summer break is underway, a Swansea primary school has published an important message, and it has received widespread praise.

Craigfelen Primary School has posted a reminder that for many, the holidays will leave them feeling "lonely and cut off", and reminded people to look out for others.

The message, posted on their Facebook page, reads: "Can I ask any parents to remind their kids this summer that there will be some children who will spend the whole of their six weeks feeling lonely and cut off. For the kid with no friends, one text, one invite to the park can make or break their holidays.

"Everyone wants to be included, some just need to be asked and made to feel welcome. In an age where we all talk about mental health, let's teach our kids to look after and include each other. Simple things can mean such a lot."

The post has been widely shared and many have backed the message. One person wrote: "Absolutely love this. Well done Craigfelen Primary School."

Another wrote: "I hope people will share this with their children", whilst another simply added: "Kindness costs nothing."

Young people at the school recently successfully campaigned for a defibrillator for their community. The year five and six children were shocked to find out their area did not have the equipment that was credited for saving Denmark footballer Christian Eriksen's life during the Euro 2020 competition. The school is now hoping to organise defibrillator training for the whole community once it is fitted in the area.
