The iconic Scottish football sight that could be a thing of the past as FIFA proposes strict new guidelines

It's one of the things that makes Scottish football great - a player scoring and then sticking it to the opposition.

Whether it's Scott Brown turning to El-Hadji Diouf with arms aloft or Alfredo Morelos gesturing to Motherwell fans, there is nothing that inspires seethe quite as much as a good goal celebration.

Further back there was Henrik Larsson 's toungue or Kris Boyd showing his belly to Aberdeen supporters, meaning we've had plenty of memorable goal celebrations down the years.

When football does finally return though that could be a thing of the past, with the chairman of FIFA's medical committee warning goal celebrations may have to be banned.

Michel D'Hooge said: "In the present situation, team celebrations after scoring a goal are out of the question.

"We don't know how football will evolve in the future and I hope we will be able to return to some kind of normality on the pitch in time.

"But it is certainly the case at the moment that goals should not be celebrated as a team.

"Spitting in football is ingrained I'm afraid, but that has to change too.

"Banning spitting on the pitch would be a good start, although I'm not sure how easy it will be to implement.

"Certainly, I would recommend a yellow card punishment from referees to stop it because it is not hygienic."
