The iconic Irish pub that sold for way above asking price after a bidding war

This is the iconic Irish bar that sold for way above its asking price after a bidding war.

The Roundy on Castle Street in Cork city was first put up for auction at a price of €650,000.

However a whopping 20 bids later, the venue was eventually sold for a cool €710,000.

The seller notes that the property is in a "prime" location, centrally located in Cork city at the intersection of Castle Street, Patrick Street and The Coal Quay.

The local area also has "significant footfall" thanks to a nearby McDonald's, Lidl, Rising Sons Brewery and the Cornmarket Shopping Centre.

It also has a seven-day publican's licence, and the lease is not due to expire until 2026.

The property has both a ground and first floor, with a traditional design including a bar, keg room and function room on the ground floor, while there are restrooms and bottle stores on the first floor.

In total there is a floor area of 1,624.6 sq. ft, and the bar comes with a passing rent of €67,600 per annum.

However the auctioneers were advised by the vendor that due to Covid-19 the full rental amount is not being received.
