Here is everything you need to know about the new Hunger Games film.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel the films fans already know and love, and is set years before Katniss heads into the arena. The story follows President Snow as a young 18-year-old, before he became the most powerful man in the Capitol.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Collins, who also wrote the original Hunger Games Trilogy. A new trailer for the film has just dropped, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the release of the film.

When is The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes coming out?

The film will be released in cinemas on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Who is in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes?

The film stars Tom Blyth as a young Coriolanus Snow, who is forced to mentor Rachel Zegler playing Lucy Gray Baird, the tribute for District 12 in the 10th Annual Hunger Games, 64 years before Katniss volunteers for her sister.

The pair have been cast alongside Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, one of the creators of the games, Jason Schwartzman as TV host Lucretius 'Lucky' Flickerman, Euphoria's Hunter Schafer as Coriolanus's cousin Tigris Snow and EGOT winner Viola Davis as head gamemaker Dr Volumnia Gaul.

Josh Andrés Rivera, Burn Gorman, Fionnula Flanagan, Ashley Liao, Michael Greco, Max Raphael, Zoe Renée and Daniela Grubert are also among the cast.

What is the plot of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes?

The film follows Coriolanus' rise to power, which starts when he reluctantly signs up to mentor Lucy in the games. She captures people's attention when she sings during the reaping ceremony, and the pair end up teaming up for Lucy to survive the games and Coriolanus to climb the political ladder to eventually become the President Snow we all love to hate.
