Stan Kroenke will be facing a payout to the Arsenal players following their FA Cup win on Saturday.
The Gunners secured the final piece of domestic silverware on Saturday, beating London rivals Chelsea at an empty Wembley Stadium to secure Mikel Arteta's first trophy as a manager.
And while silverware would have been the main thing on the players' minds as they graced the Wembley turf, there will have been a financial incentive inspiring them to victory too.
Arsenal became one of the first Premier League clubs to reach an agreement with their players over a wage cut when lockdown for the coronavirus pandemic began.
The Arsenal players agreed to have their pay cut by 12.5% in April, with that due to continue until March 2021.
However, by winning the FA Cup, the Gunners players have forced owner Stan Kroenke to decrease that cut by 5%.
The incentive was placed on the players during negotiations over the pay cut, with qualification for the Europa League, secured by winning the FA Cup, meaning only 7.5% would be reclaimed.
Had Arsenal qualified for the Champions League, Kroenke would have been forced to pay back all the money that the players lost between April and August.
The players were led by Arsenal's vice-captain and PFA representative Bellerin, who impressed both the club hierarchy and his team-mates with his approach.
Though there had been some questions over why players should bear the financial brunt as opposed to billionaire owner Stan Kroenke they were assuaged after it was revealed that that Kroenke Sports and Entertainment offered some financial support.
