Liverpool’s food and drink scene has changed dramatically in the last few years, with a huge amount of new bars and restaurants opening up across the city.
There’s always somewhere new to try, in fact it's hard trying to keep up with all the new kids on the block.
So let us refresh your memory over the last 12 months. These are the bars and restaurants you couldn’t go to this time last year in Liverpool - see how many you have been to:
Black Barrel
Named after the method of aging rums in charred barrel, the bar opened in the former Izakaya in March, 2019.
As well as a huge selection of rums, there is a small plates food menu that features Caribbean and Latin American food, including vegan options.
Southport Food and Drink Festival is coming - and it's completely free
Dash

The Victoria Street restaurant opened late last year in what was the Sugar Hut - and before that the Living Room - with a huge 10 metre bar, curved booths and a private dining room.
Dash’s menu features Pan Asian-influenced dishes and small plates, and the bar has a signature New York-themed cocktail list.
The XOXO nightclub opened underneath, from the same owners The 15 Group.
Rudy’s Pizzeria
With stripped back decor and a traditional pizza oven, Rudy’s opened last November on Castle Street in the former CAU restaurant.
Its dough is made on site each day, taking 24 hours to double ferment and just 60 seconds to cook. The menu includes Neapolitan classics such as margherita, salame, meridi (white pizza) and calabrese.
Rosa’s Thai Cafe

Having taken London by storm, Rosa’s Thai opened its first venue outside the capital, in Liverpool's Albert Dock, in February.
Rosa’s Thai Cafe is known for its flavoursome Thai food inspired by Saiphin’s family recipes. Expect dishes such as salmon red curry, stir-fried aubergine with chilli and basil, and Rosa’s famous Pad Thai signature.

Aether by the Alchemist
Brought to Liverpool ONE last September from the team behind The Alchemist , Aether is a nod to the brand’s original roots.
With 21 signature cocktails that are influenced by the elements, the venue focuses on mixology and live music.
Inside the venue there’s a huge island bar, with an al fresco dining area outside overlooking Chavasse Park.
Bongo’s Bungalow
Over St Patrick’s Day weekend, the team behind Bongo’s Bingo opened their first permanent bar in Cains Brewery at the Baltic Triangle.
The bar features a kitchen, living room and dining room, for the ultimate ‘house party’ experience and is open every Thursday to Sunday.
Rocket and Ruby

Named after the owners’ dogs, the venue opened on the corner of Castle Street opposite the crown court, in the former Cheese and Co. restaurant.
The venue opened in November and is the fourth city centre restaurant from the team behind Bacaro, Salt House Tapas and Hanover Street Social.

Champagne and Fromage
Another one that’s hugely popular in London and has made its way up north - Champagne + Fromage spent a bit of time in Grand Central Food Bazaar before opening in Ashcroft Buildings on Victoria Street earlier this year.
As the name suggests it specialises in French farmhouse cheeses, and champagne, with huge sharing platters and afternoon tea available.
Roxy Ball Room Rainford Square

After the success of its Liverpool ONE venue on College Lane, Roxy’s opened a second premises in the former BHS cafe earlier this month.
Spanning two floors, the venue follows the Roxy theme, with pool tables, ping pong, bowling, beer pong, mini golf - plus cocktails, pizzas, burgers and more.

Liverpool Gin Distillery

The three floor Castle Street venue opened last November, for gin tastings, gin making and distillery tours.
There are two bars if you just fancy popping in for a drink, plus handmade pizza, tapas and nibbles.
