The hotel with its own treehouse near Edinburgh offering an overnight stay with a twist

If you go down to the woods today you'll discover an exciting secret.

Well, you will if you head to the grounds of Fernie Castle near Letham, where you'll find their magical treehouse.

The stunning hotel, which can be found in Fife and is just over an hour from Edinburgh, offers an epic stay in their Deer Hunter's Lodge, one of the best-looking treehouses you'll ever come across.

Squirrelled away within the wood, you'll find the incredible build connected to six tall sycamore trees, but don't be fooled, this treehouse hides an opulent interior.

Hidden beneath its copper roof tiles and rustic exterior you'll find a fairy-light-festooned balcony where double doors with striking stained glass lead you into the bedroom.

Within lies a huge elm king-sized bed and other specially designed hand-crafted furniture to complete this forest fantasy.

And the lodge has been designed with comfort in mind featuring plumbing, heating, an alarm, a telephone, a flat-screen TV, a coffee maker and even a fridge.

Oh, and did we mention the free-standing bath?

That's right, climbing the magical spiral staircase, above the bedroom you'll find the luxurious bathroom with its chandelier made of leaves and flowers that hangs above the bathtub.

Situated next to the A92, the main road from Edinburgh to Dundee, the nearly 500-year-old castle serves for an impressive backdrop for your romantic stay in the woods, with the treehouse secluded in a glade 500 yards from the main house.

Inside the castle itself, you'll find the Keep Bar, which dates back to 1530, The Auld Alliance Dining Room and The Turret Bistro.

You can find out more about the treehouse and book a stay via the Fernie Castle website.
