The hot new game for kids everywhere is ‘Blooket’! So what is it?

It seems like every week older Internet users are discovering some new game that the kids are into, and this week, it’s Blooket. Now, for parents out there reading this, you’re probably aware of the game/quiz platform that’s taken off like a rocket. But, it’s a little bit more complicated than that after you dig into the specifics. Kids are using this to take quizzes and play games online.

However, the sheer amount of activities that Blooket can replicate is dizzying for people who remember the heyday of Vine. The people behind this program have really thought about making these games enjoyable for a wide variety of players. They accounted for the difference in problem solving or processing among the students. It’s easy to see why so many players rush to earn coins as quickly as possible. (Keep in mind Blooket So, let’s explain Blooket for all my older folks that missed out on the new craze.

In essence, Blooket is an online learning platform. But, these learning modules are gamified for young students to have fun while studying. Each Blooket activity will contain both quiz-style questions and answers along with skill-based games. The students playing will answer these questions in an effort to earn points.

One thing that’s made Blooket even more popular than other attempts to gamify education is how easy the platform is to run. Blooket runs on basically any device imaginable, from tablets to phones and beyond. That ease allows Blooket to exist in the classroom in tandem with students at home. Teachers are in charge of the class, but individuals can try these quizzes at a later time. Blooket also leans into different game modes for different subjects.

As with most of the non-learning video games students might play, there is character progression. The points players earn help them unlock rewards for their characters. Games also make room for students to compete as part of a team in addition to solo challenges. The teacher can select their own groupings in order to encourage friendly competition between students too.

Before students dive into these special quizzes, they have to sign-up. Teachers can gst their own free account with their email address. From there, the instructor assembles their own games from templates. They can use the pre-built questions or build their own challenges using the examples as guides. Once the game is assembled, the teacher sends the student a code to join a given quiz or challenge.

In the standard quizzes, Blooket has sections that offer questions highlighted with big color blocks. Those are the answer choices for a given question. Everything is laid out very intuitively for younger students. Then, after all the answers for a quiz have been filled out, points are assigned by the program. Players can spend their points immediately or go look for some more questions to answer.

Popular modes like Cafe mode and Tower of Doom attract a ton of players. Students answer questions to serve the Cafe customers in the first option. In Tower of Doom, their characters battle it out with others to answer the quizzes the best. There’s even a Tower Defense mode in the mold of something like Plants vs Zombies.
