Man with an axe starts attacking another man's car in Manchester city centre

Dramatic footage shows the moment a man takes an axe to another man's car during a terrifying fight in the street.

Police were called to Ancoats in Manchester city centre on Wednesday afternoon.

Video of the incident shows two men sparring between cars as horrified passers-by look on.

One man then runs up to a blue Citroen and begins hitting the bonnet with the axe before walking away.

The pair continue to argue for several more minutes, before the second man gets in his car, pulls a u-turn and drives off with what appears to be a smashed back window.

A spokesman for GMP confirmed they were called to the scene - at the junction of Sherratt Street and George Leigh Street - at 12.30pm.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has since been released under investigation.
