The Hoppings organisers issue strict rules on alcohol as funfair returns to Newcastle

The Hoppings is back in Newcastle and organisers want everyone to have an enjoyable but safe time at the annual event.

Europe's largest travelling funfair is back at the Town Moor for another stint, with the fun getting going on Friday, Jun 21.

Tens of thousands are people are expected to flock to the Moor during opening weekend along to enjoy Hoppings rides like white knuckle attractions MACH5, Bomber, Exciter and Ice Jet, as well as having a go on the many sideshows that will be there as well.

And while you'll also be able to take your own food and drink in to enjoy a picnic while you're not on the rides, there is a complete ban on bringing any alcohol into the event.

And the rules on alcohol rules go further than that too as fairground ride operators reserve the right to prevent any passengers from using their ride if they feel that they are under the influence of alcohol on arrival.

In addition, a fairground superintendent will be on duty throughout the duration of The Hoppings. He can be found at the Control Centre next to the main entrance on the Great North Road.

The First Aid centre can be found in the Portacabins at the main entrance on the Great North Road. St. John’s Ambulance Staff will also be patrolling the site.
