The homes with 'fantastic' view of River Trent that 'come into their own in summer'

Residents with balconies overlooking a scenic section of the River Trent have heaped praise on their quiet estate. People living in Quayside Close, beside Trent Bridge, boasted of fantastic views and great public transport links on a sunny weekday afternoon.

And it is exactly those sort of conditions that brings the houses to life, residents said. Colin and Gail Stanley, who spend hours gazing down at the embankment from their balcony, said their home "really comes into its own in the summer when you can throw open the French doors".

"We moved here in 2004 so we're obviously pretty happy about living here, we're so happy we have had some alterations," said 70-year-old Colin. "We have a view out on the river, there's plenty of buses and walking into town is not a problem.

"The first thing we did was extend the balcony as we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view over the river. It's really nice." Gail, 69, added: "There's always someone out there on the embankment, canoeists, joggers."

Joanna Greenwood, who lives a few doors down, said the estate was also "close knit". The 46-year-old said: "It's lovely, we've got West Bridgford not too far away and we're not too far from town. It's great, nice and quiet, we love it. There's plenty of action at the boat club, we can see the dragon boat racing.

"We're close to everything, and the view of the river. Our neighbours are also nice, it's a close knit community. Everybody looks out for on another."

Helen Smith, 67, retired, added: "We enjoy it, we like being near on the river and there are good services round here. The buses are amazing and it's close to town. The view of the river is the best thing, that's why we bought the place. The view is fantastic."
