We all know Emmerdale is the very best soap on British TV (probably), but you might be surprised to discover some people really dislike it - and some of their criticisms are hilarious.
Since launching as Emmerdale Farm way back in 1972, ITV’s premier soap (yes, that’s right Corrie) has screened over 9,000 episodes, has millions of fans across the globe and has deservedly earned a trophy room packed with awards.
But despite all this, some people really aren’t satisfied with the goings-on in the village.

We’ve taken a look at some of the stinging reviews left on IMDb about Emmerdale. Some perhaps raise a valid point here and there but others are just plain hilarious.
On the website, Emmerdale currently holds a mere 4.9 out of 10 star rating. That said, it looks like soaps aren’t quite the users' cup of tea with Corrie currently standing at 5.6 and EastEnders and Hollyoaks both ranked at 4.7.

Anyways, to the reviews and we’ll let you decide what you think of some of these.
In ShadeGrenade’s 1 out of 10 review titled ‘A Load of Manure’ they comment: “In one of the most tasteless soap storylines of all time, a plane crashed on Beckindale, mirroring the real-life Lockerbie disaster of a few years earlier. More than just a few minor characters died.
“So did the show's spirit, its soul, its individuality. These days, Emmerdale rivals EastEnders in terms of sheer stupidity with shouting in lieu of acting, and formulaic plots about adultery, adultery, and, oh yes, adultery.”
ShadeGrenade concluded: “Don't get me started on the Dingles!”
We’d avoid offending the Dingles…for your own good.
In another 1 out of 10 review, Rabical 91 said: “Emmerdale just like Coronation Street is too ridiculous now to be credible. Hopefully, someday someone will shut the barn door on it for good.”
Another 1 out of 10 review is titled ‘Utter Tripe’ in reference to the recent Meena Jutla killer spree. Jerryp65 said: “All soaps these days are far-fetched storylines but others seem to know when to bring them to an end.
“Emmerdale writers don't seem to have this skill and just milk a story line to its absolute death. Come on you guys, please try and make your stories just a little bit believable. Even Eastenders knows when enough is enough.”
Although, it isn’t all doom and gloom with lots of 10 out of 10 reviews on IMDb about Emmerdale.
Blobbybrew 2 posted: “Emmerdale is by far the best soap on TV. The storylines are not far fetched and ridiculous but not weak and boring. All the characters have their own uniqueness and the whole show oozes charm and cosiness.”
Millygill 47430 added: “I love watching Emmerdale every night and the classic Emmerdale in the afternoon.”
Big Movie Fan described Emmerdale as ‘the best soap ever’. They posted: “Emmerdale is the best soap on TV and has been for a number of years; I am still puzzled as to why it doesn't get the credit it deserves.”
There were also posts from international viewers in America and Australia.
“If you go to England you should watch,” wrote Slyviastel.
“It is unlike American soaps, where actors and actresses looked like they were plucked from modeling catalogues.”
In conclusion, let’s ignore the haters and appreciate Emmerdale in all of its glory.
