The High Street by Alice Melvin - review

Alice Melvin, The High Street (Lift the Flap)

This is one of my new favourite books. It is about a girl called Sally, who goes to the high street with her shopping list. She visits lots of different shops along the way.

The shops all sell interesting things and there are lots of fun characters in them.

I liked this book because when Sally went to the flower shop, Miss MacDonald (the florist) had no more yellow roses. These were one of the things on the shopping list. So Sally left the flower shop with heavy, aching feet and went into the park. When she went in, she saw hundreds of yellow roses and it made her happy.

I like all the pictures because they are clear, nice and colourful. The pictures have lots of beautiful things in them.

I think Alice Melvin must work very hard to write and illustrate a book.

I got this book from Father Christmas. He knows everything that everyone wants in the world and he knows to pick good books for me.
