Hibs are top of the Scottish Premiership when it comes to the percentage of minutes played by their 11 most fielded players.
The CIES Football Observatory has compiled the stats for clubs across Europe and Hibs ’ most selected players have played the most number of minutes of any of the top flight clubs.
The Hibees are top of the pile with 86% of minutes played by their regulars across the 22 games they’ve played so far this season until 11 January.
It perhaps shouldn’t be too unexpected after Jack Ross admitted the club would be going with a “skinnier squad” this season.
That places a greater reliance on their first choice players to remain fit and for the most part, that stats prove that to be the case.
But the numbers also highlight a need for a touch more strength in depth.
Should injuries and suspensions strike, it could have a bigger effect on Hibs as a settled team.
To that end, Ross has been relatively busy so far in the transfer January transfer window.
Goalkeeper Matt Macey has arrived from Arsenal while midfielder Jackson Irvine was snapped up on a free.
Winger Chris Cadden’s move from Columbus Crew was finally confirmed last week, and his versatility should take some of the pressure off the likes of Martin Boyle out wide and Joe Newell in the middle.
At the other end of the scale, Celtic’s regulars have played the lowest percentage of minutes at 67.1 per cent, although the numbers are skewed somewhat due to them playing just 19 matches.
Kilamarnock, who were defeated 2-0 at Easter Road on Saturday, are second behind Hibs at 77.7 per cent.
