The Hermitage in Perthshire named one of Scotland's most romantic places

A popular Perthshire beauty spot has been named one of the most romantic places in Scotland.

The Hermitage near Dunkeld has been singled out by the charity Paths for All as one of the best places to take a romantic walk on St Valentine’s Day.

Visitors flock to the beauty spot in all weathers to marvel at the Black Linn Falls from Ossian’s Hall, and walk out to Ossian’s Cave.

A spokesperson for the walking charity said: “Beautiful in all seasons, the Hermitage’s Douglas firs are among the tallest trees in Britain and will no doubt make a lasting impression on all visitors.

“Originally designed as a pleasure ground in the 18th century for the dukes of Atholl, the path leads to Black Linn Falls, captivating everyone who gazes over them.

“There are also plenty of options for a longer walk, with opportunities to take in more of the local ruins and inland scenery.”

Paths for All is hoping as many loved-up couples as possible will go out for a romantic walk at The Hermitage on Friday, February 14.

Other romantic places named in the top 10 by Paths for All includes Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire, the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, Sandwood Bay in Sutherland, West Sands in St Andrews, Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothian, the Water of Leith, Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow, Loch an Eilein in the Cairngorms and the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.
