Russell Martin could go a long way to getting Rangers supporters back onside by making Nicolas Raskin the captain.
That's the view that has been put forward by Ally McCoist.
While he didn't quite go as far as to fully get behind the suggestion, he does think it would make a 'hell of a statement'.
Currently, James Tavernier is the skipper. Raskin only came back into the side for the weekend win over Hibs, where he scored the opener.
McCoist insists Raskin must play every game from here on in, despite any personal grievance between himself and the head coach.
And after a much-needed win on Saturday night, McCoist believes more feel-good factor could be achieved by promoting Raskin to captaincy of the side.
"I'll tell you what I think," he said on talkSPORT Breakfast. "I watched the game and Rangers were a lot better.
"They got a wee bit of luck with the Hibs goal that was disallowed but they didn't get any luck the week before when three big decisions went against them.
"But on Raskin, I've said that I couldn't believe that he didn't play in the last couple of big games.
"Clearly something happened which we've not been privy to, but you can't do anything to affect the team because the team is everything.
"So in my view, Raskin must play. The team is above any personal feud.
"If there's been a breach of discipline I get that and there will be occasions when you have to clamp down on players.
"But I don't think you can do it long-term if it's to the detriment of the team.
"You're right though, one of the things he could do to get the majority of fans back onside would be to make Raskin skipper longer-term.
"I think it's a valid point that Raskin in the middle of the park with whether it's [Thelo] Aasgaard or [Mohamed] Diomande sitting in front as a ten, is not a bad midfield at all.
"Russell Martin has to keep winning games but he has to do other things to get the fans back onside.
"Does it create a problem itself, changing captain? I'm not so sure.
"It would be a heck of a statement, I'll give you that."
