The heartwarming way Tranmere fans are helping each other get to Wembley for the play-off final this weekend

Tranmere supporters are digging deep in the most heartwarming way to ensure the 'Super White Army' is as well represented at Wembley this weekend as possible.

Rovers take on Newport County in the League Two promotion play-off final this Saturday afternoon (3pm), hoping for a second successive promotion having .

It is the Birkenhead club's third visit to the national stadium in as many years after reaching the National League play-off finals in 2017 and 2018 and a brilliant initiative from the Tranmere Rovers Trust and the Southern SWA is helping to ensure that as many Rovers fans as possible can be there to cheer on Micky Mellon's men on the big day.

With ticket prices ranging from £26 to £60, along with the considerable cost of getting from Merseyside to London, fans are being encouraged to donate £50 (or whatever they can afford) to help children and parents who would not have otherwise been able to afford the trip to Wembley.

Donations are being received via the already well-established Tranmere Rovers Trust and Official Supporters Club page on the Supporters Direct website (click here) and over a £1,000 has already been raised with some local organisations already taking to Twitter to thank those involved for their kindness.

Sean Trodden, founder and head PRO-AM coach at Birkenhead Venture Boxing Club, tweeted: "Just received a marvellous gesture off Ben Harrison from @Tranmere_Trust of 20 free Wembley tickets and coach travel for some of our children and parents who otherwise wouldn't have been able to make it @TranmereRovers @markpalios1 @NicolaPalios Fantastic Gesture, What A Club"

Simon Crabtree from New Ferry Rangers FC tweeted: "We thank the @Tranmere_Trust @SouthernSWA1 and all of the SWA for the amazing gesture of free tickets and travel down to Wembley for some members of the club who wouldn't have been able to afford it. The club appreciates this offer. You really are legends."

Donations keep flooding in with Southern SWA confirming on Tuesday afternoon they had raised £1,500 (including gift aid) for the pot and the Tranmere Rovers Trust thanking fans for their generosity while encouraging others to keep donating as they aim for a target of £3,000.

Tranmere Rovers say they have already sold over 11,500 tickets for Saturday's game - we will have live coverage from Wembley of the build-up and the big match itself on the ECHO website and in our dedicated TRFC section here .
