The heartwarming message that John Terry sent to Frank Lampard after landing Chelsea job

Frank Lampard's appointment as Chelsea head coach has sent a feeling of warmth around west London.

The 41-year-old was appointed after a successful year in charge of Derby County in which he came agonisingly close to guiding the Rams back to the Premier League.

Despite falling short, Lampard was the undoubted favourite to land the Chelsea role after Maurizio Sarri left to join Juventus.

Lampard's popularity around Stamford Bridge is unquestioned with the midfielder being an integral part of one of the most successful Chelsea sides in their history.

That side featured other favourites such as Petr Cech, Didier Drogba, and most notably skipper John Terry.

Terry is on his own journey towards becoming a club manager as he continues to develop as assistant manager of newly-promoted Aston Villa, and the former Chelsea captain couldn't hide his delight for his former teammate after he was unveiled as Chelsea manager.

Taking to Instragram, he posted: "Congratulations and Good Luck mate @Frank Lampard @ChelseaFC. Welcome home. So proud and excited for you Lamps."

The two came head to head in the play-off final between Derby County and Aston Villa with Dean Smith's side coming out on top.

But while Lampard will be at the Stamford Bridge helm next season, Terry will undoubtedly be looking for revenge against his former club and teammate.
