The heartbreaking moment Glen Kamara and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard hug after racism storm

Rangers fans have been left overcome with emotion after footage emerged of Glen Kamara being consoled by Steven Gerrard.

The midfielder was allegedly racially abused by Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela, with the Finland international stating he was called a "f*****g monkey".

Gerrard backed his player to the hilt after the match, stating that he would defend Kamara as though he was his own son.

And footage has emerged showing just how emotional the 25-year-old was after the Europa League defeat on Thursday.

A visibly distressed Kamara can be seen being consoled by Gerrard, who walks with his arm around his player before drawing him into a hug.

The midfielder broke his silence on the incident on Friday night, as he dismissed Kudela's denial of the incident.

Kamara said: ""During yesterday’s match with Slavia Prague, Kudela was arguing with a Rangers player and after I tried to intervene, he told me to shut up and then said ‘one second my friend.’

"He then came over to me covering his mouth, leaning into my ear, he uttered the words – 'You’re a f****** monkey, you know you are'.

"I was shocked and horrified to hear such racist abuse from a professional football player. Kudela’s claim he simply swore at me and said 'You’re a f****** guy is a complete utter lie which does not stand up to any form of scrutiny.

"Kudela’s actions were deliberate and premeditated, but he was loud enough for my team-mate Bongani Zungu to hear what was said."
