Robin Williams’s widow Susan Schneider Williams has revealed the unusual details of how the pair met.

Schneider Williams was discussing her late husband, who died by suicide in 2014, to promote Robin’s Wish, a new documentary about the last days of the beloved actor’s life.

Telling The Guardian how she met Williams in late 2007, when she happened to stop in at the local Apple store, she said: “I walked in and saw this man and I thought: ‘I think that’s Robin Williams.’ Then on my way out I happened to look at him again and he was smiling at me and something inside me said: ‘Oh, just go over and say hi.’”

She continued: “He was wearing camouflage print so I said: ‘How’s that camo working out for you?’ And he said: ‘Not too good – you found me.’”

Four years later the couple got married, his third marriage and her second, and they lived in Marin County, with her two young sons from a previous relationship.

The documentary explores the neurodegenerative disorder – Lewy Body Dementia – that Williams was struggling with before he died.

Robin's Wish will be available to watch from 4 January in the UK and can be viewed on different digital and on demand platforms including iTunes, Amazon and Sky Store.
