The hay is not yet in the barn for Cardinals, 1st overall pick

Nearly everyone around the NFL is waiting to find out what the Arizona Cardinals will do with the first overall pick in the draft on Thursday. However, if we are to believe Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury, the organization has not yet made up its mind definitively what will be done.

When Kingsbury spoke to reporters after Tuesday’s voluntary minicamp practice, he said they “are still working through it.”

“It’s a process, but I wouldn’t say the hay is in the barn,” he said.

Essentially, it would appear they likely know what they will do, but there are a couple of factors that could play a role in changing what might happen. That might be a trade offer for the top pick or an offer for quarterback Josh Rosen.

It is believed the Cardinals are debating internally between Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa.

Murray has been considered the favorite for months, but some doubt is creeping in and many local reporters suggest he might not be a sure thing, especially with how Rosen has handled himself in the offseason and the apparent lack of real interest in last year’s No. 10 overall pick.

The draft is just a day away, so if the hay isn’t in the barn yet, it had better be right next to it and the Cardinals had better be ready to load it.
