The Gypsy Queens lead singer Didier Casnati performs in Fortnum and Mason to raise funds for homelessness charity

A former homeless busker who is now an acclaimed singer played to shoppers at Fortnum & Mason to raise awareness around homelessness.

The Gypsy Queens lead singer and guitarist Didier Casnati, 38, now performs for the likes of Sir Elton John — but started his career busking while living on the streets of Nice.

The money he raised is going to Fortnum’s partner charity StreetSmart.

Londoners can support it by eating at restaurants across the capital this month. Through StreetSmart, 609 restaurants will add an optional £1 to diners’ bills that will see grants given to groups working with homeless and vulnerable people.
