The Guardian has been awarded best use of online video for ‘Building the Bomb’ (the story of the US’s development of nuclear weapons created in collaboration with ITV) at the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers’ (WAN-IFRA) European Digital Media Awards 2016. Judges of the awards, which reward the best in digital innovation from publishers across Europe, were impressed by the way ‘Building the Bomb’ not only mixed visuals and text but “the great interweaving of historic and contemporary vision.”
The Guardian was also highly commended for its website, theguardian.com, which was awarded best news website in last year’s awards. . Judges described its content as “stunning examples of intelligent, responsive, audience-centred design” and singled out “The Counted” for its “high impact visual journalism.”
