The Guardian wins six FPA Media awards

The Guardian has won six awards at this year’s Foreign Press Association Media Awards for a series of long reads.

The FPA Media Awards honour excellence in journalism. Now in its sixteenth year, the awards provide the opportunity for British journalists to be recognised by their international peers.

Martin Chulov won Print and Web Feature Story of the Year for Isis: the inside story and also took home the award for Journalist of the Year. This is the third time since 2010 that a Guardian journalist has won the Journalist of the Year award.

David Goldblatt picked up Sports Story of the Year for his long read on a Ugandan prison’s football league. New York-based Oliver Burkeman won Science Story of the Year for his long read on the mystery of consciousness. Sam Knight picked up Financial/Economics Story of the Year for his piece on Serco’s struggle for survival. Travel/Tourism Story of the Year went to Christopher de Bellaigue for his Lost in Translation long read.
