The Guardian wins at Society of Editors’ Media Freedom Awards

The Guardian has won three awards at the Society of Editors’ Media Freedom Awards.

Anna Isaac, the Guardian’s city editor, was named journalist of the year, Pippa Crerar took home the prize of political journalist of the year, and Marina Hyde won the Media Freedom Awards commentator of the year.

The Media Freedom Awards set the benchmark for a celebration of UK public interest journalism, shining a light on the crucial role that UK journalists play in promoting media freedom and championing the public’s right to know and holding power to account.

The judges praised Anna Isaac for her work exposing a culture of sexual misconduct at the Confederation of British Industry, Pippa Crerar for leading the way in uncovering stories such as the bullying allegations made against the former deputy prime minister Dominic Raab, and Marina Hyde for her “searing and hilarious” columns that turn serious issues of the day into an entertaining and joyful read.
